Who I am was very largely contributed to by me, but there are a few things that have shaped me. Although there isn't much to come off of, I still find that these small bits have determined who I want to be, why, and sometimes just my everyday actions.

I was born into a Christian family, which I can say was a definite good thing, because while I'm not exactly a religious type, I got born into a decent family with middle-class standing. Of course, when I was a child I wouldn't have been able to know what the previous sentence meant. I think I got tired of the whole deal around the seventh grade, when I learned about homosexuality and the religious backfire on it. I certainly didn't agree with such a disapproval of it. This decision of mine was disagreed upon by my friends, but thankfully, my family shares my view of acceptances. Anyway, the origin of my life helped me develop as a societally decent person, and my breaking away from it developed my moral choices.

Also around the seventh grade, I read both the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, but also a biography on him. Not only did I learn his amazing creativity, but also how it came to him, what circumstances you were in, and just trivial fact about his life. Soon after I read the pieces, I had the idea of creating a world of my own. Today, I have nearly 80 pages worked up, and continue to work on the novel and have festering others in my mind. I have also tried to become more invested in famous work of literature, and art in general. From an early age I was playing all sorts of different video games, as well, which most definitely impacted my creative style greatly.

My geographical upbringings were about as bland as they could become. I've lived in Ventura my entire life so far, and I have never left the country. I've been to famous American cities such as Seattle and New York, but that's about the furthest I've gone. Ideally, I would like to travel all over the place for inspiring landscapes and historical intrigues. But, being a fourteen year old kid in a suburban desert town, I don't expect my wishes to come true as soon as I might like. In terms of my interest in art, I do feel like I have an open environment to explore such things, with local libraries, book stores, and other such places providing it to me.

I would write about some celebrity or older figure that I achieve to be like here, but honestly, I don't believe that I have one. I learned that being someone else is more of a chore than anything else, and that being my own person gives a little spice to the seven billion. I know that I talked about Tolkien before, but he had only introduced my interest in the subject of literature; I certainly wouldn't want to be drafted for two world wars. An unpopular opinion, I know.

Well, like I said, there isn't all that much to say about what had created me, as I do strive to become my unique person. I know however, that without the people and places and culture of this world, I would be another animal that follows the herd. I'm Riley Bangs; have a great dang day.
