I was born on the eleventh of June in 2000. I spent my first years as a child in worn down old house in Ventura with the roaring 126 Freeway running behind it. My dad got up early 6 days a week to go to work and put food on the table while my mom stayed at home and worked on an old Dell Dimension 2400. The dinosaur of a computer had an Intel Celeron with less than 1GB of RAM in it and a mere 120GB hard drive. One of the first big brand name games I owned was “Cars” based off of 2006 movie. When I installed the double disc game it did not work so my mom called a friend of hers who was a tech guy and he came over and diagnosed the problem and discovered the graphics card needed an upgrade to run the game. The computer came stock without any sort of graphical card so the e-GeForce FX5200 128MB was a revival for the old computer expanding its lifespan until it ran on its last legs and eventually died around 2011. The whole process of the computer being upgraded sparked the now long lasting flame in my head of fascination behind technology and the way things work. My dad also enjoys computers, at least the entertainment part which only consists of online poker and the political and DIY section of YouTube. My next game also ran from a CD only this time I needed my dads new Fujitsu Netbook to play LEGO Indiana Jones.
That is the origin of my leap into the technological world and it only gets better from here. Computers are not my only focus in electronics. If it processes data and information it interests me so I know a bit about home wireless and wired networking, TVs and DVRs, and smartphones particularly Androids. Knowing about all these things did not just come from using my mom and dad’s computers, my 13th birthday is when I finally got my own piece of equipment that I could do whatever I wanted with. Over the of course we have gotten new routers, DVRs, and phones so picking up on those things came along as well. Getting my new computer I could not have done without my best friend Daniel of course since he built his computer a few months before me. The process of picking out computer components and figuring out how they worked and what they worked with was time consuming and lots of research had to be done but even after we had it all sitting in our rooms in various shaped boxes we still let the pros down at ACM computers put it all together.
With a fresh install of Windows 7 installed, I pressed the silver circular button on my clean and shiny Rosewill Challenger case and watched and listened as my computer came to life. “Rr-rr-BEEP-vroom-whoosh!” That was the sound I would come to know as the machine that would open a new world of fun, relaxation, work, and social interaction. First things first, clean out all the junkware software that came from installing the motherboard drivers. Next, I installed the basic everyday programs such as Google Chrome, Skype, Steam, and Spotify. Steam? What in the world is Steam you may be asking yourself. Steam is the most popular store and community base for PC gaming where you can buy over 3500 different games that you can download straight to your hard drive.
I still play games now with some of the people I have met in various games back when I started. Deadpool is the name of a guy I met when I played Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 who taught me a bit about the jerks you might meet in games. The jerks I am referring to are specifically hackers or people who edit the game's files to do things such as shoot through walls, have infinite health, fly, or do infinite damage to players instantly killing them.
Games are not all I do on my computer though. Recently I have been researching and learning about coding which is what I am hoping to have a future in. When it comes to troubleshooting problems I know how to solve lots of the common ones like slow computer, this or that not working, and even how to get rid of that pesky “Get Windows 10” icon that you may see if you still run Windows 7 or 8. I have had a bit of experience with virus removal. I do not question what others do on their computers but my sister somehow got a virus on her computer that would open a dialog box that looked just like the classic Windows XP Security Center which on her Windows 8 computer was instantly recognizable that it was not supposed to be on there. After getting the process it was running behind to finally close I went searching for it deep in the depths of the C drive and extinguished it. I ran some various junkware/adware removal tools after that and a scan with Malwarebytes and it was good to go. This is my story, my life, my speciality, my passion, my talent, I am not someone that gets the winning shot for the championship game or someone that is incredible at playing music but rather I am incredible at solving whatever your computer may be on the fritz about. I am Mark Cameron, 15 year old computer specialist.
