So my name is Luna Alvarado and I'm from Bathesda, Maryland. Despite by birthplace I grew up in Fairifax county in Virginia. I loved being able to express my self so my parents taught me sign language, then when I could speak they taught me Spanish, and then at my tae kwon do academy(where nobody spoke English) I learned Korean because I spent all my time there. Also I loved learning because of that so my parents taught me how to type on a computer and how to tell time and a bit of maths as well. So going to school there was fun because I knew lots already but I didn't know English! So for the first few years of my academic career I didnt even know english that well. But we moved to Damascus, Maryland in 3rd grade and the language classes I would have had to take if I didnt know English would have been rigorous. So I learned fast. I was always ahead in my classes and there were a few students like me who were exceeding and already had prior knowledge, so one of the parents who was an engineer started a class for us. Then a gt(gifted and talented) school came around advertising their middle school and telling us about it and so we applied. It was a very difficult exam and it took forever, we stayed there so long doing that test. And most of us got in, which was nice. So as you can probably see I really like learning and new challenges and having opportunities to exceed in my academic career.

I also moved around quite a bit but thats another story. So two years ago I ended up moving to LA, California from Damascus, Maryland, and then a month later to ventura. So adapting to an entire new culture with a lot of white american and mexican people(where I grew up there was a lot of east asian, south american, canadian, and european people), and different accents, weather, education system, and all that stuff. So basically I'm used to all types of people and places. I think I blend it quite well with some people here, considering I now sound like a lot of them, and dress.

These changes and challenges, helped shape the person I am today. I hope to learn new languages, and right now I'm relearning japanese and korean and getting a better understanding of the languages. I also hope to learn french, and chinese. I already know a little bit in those languages so I at least have something to start with. And I hope to travel a lot when I'm older. I plan to study in japan during college. And I want to visit wales at some point in the future. But I also can see things from a smarter perspective looking at costs and education and culture. So in the next few months there is a big chance of moving back to DC. And then later on to Toronto, Canada. This is my story and the world I come from, and how I became the person I am today.
