I have came from an over protective and worrying family. My mom never went to college and works at the courts, putting away files. My grandmother works at a gym for women and my grandfather works at a power plant for NRG. My goal for high school and college is to stay in rowing for a scholarship to Boston University. I try not to let the negative stuff get to me because I am focusing on my main goals:
My main goal is to become stroke for lightweight eight boat during my High School year. i also want to get a scholarship to Boston University. I want to get at least a 3.5 GPA. I might not be as encouraged like everyone else. Since I don’t have a dad, it is challenging but not impossible to do. So far I kept up with my rowing, but my biggest challenge for rowing is my height. I am the shortest rower in my rowing team. I try not to let that get to me when I am out in the water rowing my heart out. I also tell my team that just because I am short, doesn't mean I am weak. Except If I am taking a double out, then I am a little weak but when i am on a rowing machine or rowing out in the water, I show my strength to everyone in my boat. I always show my team spirit sometimes if the row was a good row.
School is good for me, because I work better on my homework when I am busy. I really focus on my homework so I can be able to graduate with a scholarship for rowing to Boston University. I also make sure that I am conditioned with my workouts and I stay fit so I can be able to get that scholarship. I am serious about getting my work done. I try to get A on tests and quizzes but if I don’t I try harder to get that A on the test.
But my goal is to stay in rowing until I am in college and get a Scholarship to Boston University. I want to be a stroke for the lightweight boat. I need to be less than 130 pounds, but for me that isn’t hard because of my size. The hard thing is passing every goal given to me on the rowing machine. So far I passed most of my goals but now since it is the 2000 meters season it will be a lot harder.I need to show what it takes to make that boat. I take rowing very seriously. I am not crazy about it but I do enjoy it. I have been a stroke for a quad boat a lot but not in every practice. My boat agrees that if the leader of the boat is not doing their job I can easily scare them with how serious I am. I like to be in charge.
