I was born in Tijuana, Mexico in 1999. I went to school there and took ballet there. I lived there with my dad, mom, older sister and my younger brother. I lived in Tijuana until 2008 when my dad decided he wanted to move here to California. I kicked and cried begging my parents not to make us move but my dad knew that we would have a better future here in America.
My first day of school was a blur, all I remember was sitting on a desk surrounded by kids my age talking and talking in a language I didn't speak ( I would just nod my head at everything). I had a lot of free time in my hands now that I didn't take ballet so my parents decided to enroll my siblings and I in a violin class, I have played the violin ever since.
This has had a huge impact in my life because I got to learn a whole new language and culture, one of my favorite parts of California is that I live close to the beach, the thing that I am not a fan of is the weather it is always freezing compared to Mexico weather. I also love how I get to live closer to my family, we live right next to each other (literally) my aunt lives right next door and both of my uncles live right in front of me, which is really cool.
Coming to America has been the greatest change of my life this has shaped my dreams and aspirations because there are a lot more opportunities for going to college and choosing a successful career. Another upside to immigrating here is that I now am bilingual.
