My World
I was born on April 28th, 2000 into a world that was completely new to me. Family was the only thing I had in the little hospital room I now called home, at least for a little bit. Soon I left for my current house where I have lived for 14 years and counting. Ventura, California is my home, the sky, the dried up river, the playground across the street from my great grandma’s retirement home, and the people I called friends and family. When I was around 4 months old, I finally got to see the thing that I hold nearest to my heart, the ocean. I don’t remember it, but I have videos of my parents putting me in the water with my grandparents watching from the side. Today I surf, sail, kayak, and boogie board on the blue mass I call a second home. I started to sail around the age of 9, and have done it every summer since. Sailing has been a big part of my life. I am very calm when I’m on the water, and when I’m in it.

At a young age felt disconnected, doing things by myself and just being antisocial, but I was always doing something creative. LEGO’s, Hot wheels, drawing, imaginative games, and anything hands on, I was doing it. By the time I was 6, I wanted to become an inventor, someone to help the world with machines and contraptions. I still want to be an inventor, but want to help the environment or design and construct planes. So at the age of ten I went to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with my mom because she was teaching a class. Someone gave us a tour around the campus. The only thing that really caught my eye was the sign with that one word, “Engineering”. At that moment I knew what I wanted to be, an engineer.

Since then I’ve been interested in learning about engineering. I have learned about different types of engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, and Electrical, which are the four main braches of engineering. I learned what each one does and what sub branches they have. Two of the sub branches stuck out the most, Environmental Engineering, a sub branch of Civil Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering, interdisciplinary from Vehicle Engineering, a sub branch of Mechanical Engineering. I’ve been learning more and more about these two types of engineering since the day I heard of them.
