I was born and raised in this little place near the Southeastern part of Asia. When you look closely at the world map, you will see a land isolated from the parts of Asia. And that is my hometown, the Philippines.

So I was born and raised in the Philippines before I got in Ventura CA. When I was a little, I played a lot with my cousins in the streets until we were about 12 years old. We played a lot of traditional filipino games like patintero, tumbang preso, chinese garter, and taguan and that was my whole childhood. When I was about 6 years old, my parents decided to work here in America to earn money so I was left with my grandma and my sisters. Even though we don’t get along all the time, she made me realize how important it is to be responsible.

One another thing that I want to mention is my school. My school in the Philippines is filled with fun-loving people. I can never forget the teachers that I had when I was in 6th and 7th grade and especially my classmates as well. My classmates and I are like a family to each other. High school there starts in 7th grade so when we graduated from grade school we had to go to different schools. But we still keep in touch which is good. Schools there are pretty hard. In every quarter, we have finals. But luckily, I'm always in the top ten of the class and I'm so grateful for that.

Philippines is the reason why I am so motivated to achieve my dream. The experiences and the memories I’ve faced in my hometown is what made me so determined to be focused. I had learned so much there and here in Ventura. I want to be successful in the future and in order to do that, I have to strive really hard to get the things I want. And that is the world that I came from...
